What’s your favorite place to perform in Sacramento?
When I’m in Sacramento, you’ll mostly catch me at Badlands on a Friday or Sunday! Badlands has shows five nights a week, so there’s almost always something fun happening.
Where do you go in the city when you’re looking for inspiration?
When I’m in the city and I’m looking for inspiration, I like to people-watch at DOCO or spend time at fabric shops. World Class Textile is my favorite place to see and feel different fabrics and that really helps me come up with fresh new looks.
What’s one thing you want people to know about the queer community in Sacramento?
The queer community here is just so welcoming. I’ve lived in the area for almost 4 years, and when I moved here, I had never felt so welcomed in a new place. I was able to hit the ground running, and everyone made me feel right at home in the bars and clubs. All these years later, it’s great to see so many fresh new faces also welcomed with that same energy.
You’re at your favorite local bar or restaurant. Where are you, and what do you order?
Usually my favorite bar is the one that gives me drink tickets and a check … but if I’m just out enjoying some company aside from drag, I’d have to say I recently checked out Darling Aviary and kinda fell in love. A friend and I ate an early dinner at the rooftop bar and I had their Vegan Tweeter, which was a vegan burger with dairy free cheese!
How has the Sacramento community influenced or shaped your artistry?
I’m so grateful for how the local community has pushed me to be a better artist. Before moving to the area I was lucky to do one or two shows a month but with so many shows happening here, I had to step it up and start producing new numbers, new outfits, and just keep up with all the other talented artists we have. I’ve expanded my repertoire greatly since becoming a part of Sacramento’s scene and I’m a lot more confident in what I do and that means more bookings for me and a better show for my audiences!
